Named after the youngest member of the Hickox Family, the nose of the 2019 Lilly’s Viognier leads with the bright aromas of sweet, tropical fruits like orange cream, mango, melon, papaya and guava, alongside floral notes such as citrus blossoms and honeysuckle. The wine has a creamy texture and full-mouth feel with flavors of honeydew melon. The back palate has hints of citrus pith and a balanced acidity, with just a whisper of sweetness.
The fruit was completely destemmed, just the berries were pressed to release the juices and keep out the bitter tannins from the stems, skins and seeds. Twenty percent of the juice was fermented and aged in acacia barrels to impart a creamy texture to the wine and the remaining 80% was aged in stainless steel tanks to enhance the fruit flavors of the Viognier. Prior to bottling, the wine was carefully blended to the winemaker’s preference, ensuring a delicate mix of tropical fruit flavors and aromas.
