The nose of the 2019 Delaney leads with scents of lemon zest, kiwi, melon, and the aroma of dried spring wildflowers. Its illusion of sweetness is accented with the taste of lime rind on the front palate and orange creme on the back, with a crisp acidity that lingers throughout, providing a pleasing balance.
The grape varietals were sourced from four high-quality vineyards in Northern and Southern Virginia. Each varietal was picked separately at the peak of ripeness.
In 2019, the different varietals for the Delaney matured at the same time, so the Winemaker was able to co-ferment them. The grapes were destemmed and immediately pressed and pumped into the tank for settling. The clear juice of all the grapes was then racked into a different tank, inoculated with yeast, and fermented at 56F. The wine was then aged for 4 months, fined with bentonite clay, filtered, and bottled.
