The 2017 Chenin Blanc exhibits the classic combination of minerality and acidity found in Vouvray, but captured here in Virginia. Aromas of orange, mint, and melon arise quickly upon the first swirl. Wet flint and herb at the front, citrusy mid-palate, and a warm finish, this 2017 Chenin Blanc is a fantastic example of Old World technique done in the New World.
The Chenin Blanc grapes come from Castle Gruen in Madison County, VA.
Chenin Blanc grapes were picked at peak ripeness and pressed immediately. After stainless steel fermentation, the wine was racked repeatedly to ensure wine clarity. The wine was set to coalesce and mature in stainless steel tank for 3 months. The 2017 Chenin Blanc was bottled on February 27th, 2018.
