The 2016 Reconciliation has a nose of cherry, tobacco, and savory spices. This medium-bodied wine is well-structured on the palate delivering robust flavor. Greeting your front palate with rich flavors of cherry and vanilla, the wine transitions to licorice at the mid-palate and medium tannins produce a lingering finish.
Gold Medal, 2019 Virginia Governor's Cup Wine Competition
The Petit Verdot and Merlot grapes in this blend were sourced from the best yielding rows at Rock Mill Vineyard. The vines are generally trained in single row Vertical Shoot Position for maximum airflow and perfect golden sunshine kissing the surface of the grapes.
Following harvest, the grapes are sorted and destemmed before crushing. Fermentation then takes place in t-bins where daily punch-downs on the cap is done. The wine is pressed with the skins and transferred to American Oak barrels for a period of 14 months of ageing. The wine is then artfully blended to produce a wine in the preferred style according to the judgment of the winemaker.
Food Pairing Notes
The 2016 Reconciliation perfectly pairs with rack of lamb, grilled pork tenderloin, or even a juicy gourmet cheeseburger.
