The 2016 Pinot Noir expresses notes of cocoa, blackberry, and vanilla. Pleasantly medium in body, the palate offers hints of dried plum and cocoa with a present, but not overwhelming finish.
The Pinot Noir grapes were sourced from select, high-elevation vineyards in Amherst County, VA, ideal for growing Pinot Noir.
Grapes were harvested in September of 2016, de-stemmed, crushed, and macerated for four weeks under temperature controlled conditions, then transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for two weeks for primary fermentation. After fermentation was completed, the wine was transferred into Hungarian Oak barrels.
Food Pairing Notes
The 2016 Pinot Noir is great with blue cheese, pigeon, duck, blackened chicken, pork tenderloin, and even mixed berry pie!
