The 2016 Delaney exhibits a clear, pale, lemon appearance with a bouquet of white flowers on the nose along with lavender and apricot. On the front palate, perfectly ripened white peaches, clementine oranges, and lemon zest balanced with a grey slate-like minerality lead to a refreshing medium-long finish.
The grape varietals were sourced from six high-quality vineyards in Northern and Central Virginia. Each varietal was picked separately at the peak of ripeness.
Each varietal was lightly pressed on the stems to maintain skin and seed structure, releasing the natural juices of the grape, allowing for true varietal character. Each varietal was then fermented separately and aged entirely in stainless steel. Prior to bottling, the individual varietal wines were careful blended to the winemakers’ preference, ensuring a delicate mix of floral and fruit aromas. The 2016 Delaney was bottled on February 6, 2017.
Food Pairing Notes
Spicy dishes like curry, pad Thai, and chili-flavored dishes pair well, in addition to sushi and lightly sweetened desserts.
