The Winery at Bull Run’s 2015 Petit Verdot has a nose of cooked dark cherries and raspberries, with lavender on the aroma and a touch of allspice. Medium bodied with balanced acidity, then a black cherry attack, followed by earthy notes and leather. Smooth tannins will linger on your tongue with just a hint of savory herbs and pepper on the finish.
Petit Verdot grapes were sourced from Silver Creek Orchards in Tyro, VA and picked at the peak of ripeness. Silver Creek Orchards sits at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and has been growing wine grapes since 1999.
De-stemmed, crushed and macerated for two weeks under temperature controlled conditions, then transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for one week for primary fermentation, then immediately transferred into a combination of new and neutral American Oak for 11-12 months for aging, which were then blended for an ideal balance. The 2015 Petit Verdot was bottled on June 30, 2016.
