TOUR GUIDES

Part-time, hourly ($13) with an opportunity to increase your compensation through the sale of wine clubs

The Winery at Bull Run is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tour Guides for its Historical Tour & Tasting program to successfully implement excellent customer service and hospitality for all guests.

General Responsibilities
Tour Guides are responsible for conducting the winery’s Historical Tours & Tastings for guests.  Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: greeting and welcoming guests to the property, working outdoors in sometimes hot weather, successfully conduct walking tours for groups of guests (up to 1 hour per tour), opening and pouring wine, selling and upselling wine club memberships, and working directly with the Tour Manager to ensure optimal guest satisfaction.  Local history and wine knowledge preferred.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should have excellent customer service skills with experience in a hospitality setting.  Prospects with knowledge of local Civil War history will be highly considered, as well as those with wine/winery experience.  Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, along with a high energy drive and creative personality. 

Other Requirements
Weekend availability required (4 weekend days per month)

  • Ability to stand for long amounts of time
  • Work up to 6 hour shifts on your feet with walking included
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


TASTING ROOM POURERS

Tasting Room Pourers are responsible for serving customers in The Winery at Bull Run's Tasting Room. This includes building brand awareness and exceeding guest expectations by working to enhance sales, service, and customer experience. The Tasting Room Pourer will conduct wine tastings and take pride in educating guests about the history and the products of The Winery at Bull Run. Pourers must be positive, engaging, confident, and excited to share their knowledge of wine with our guests. Our guests are treated like family, so customer service skills are essential.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and pour wines for tasting
  • Explain the history of The Winery at Bull Run and our products during tastings
  • Upsell products and club memberships on a regular basis
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the wine bar
  • Answer any and all customer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Complete opening and closing procedures as directed by the manager on duty
  • Operate cash registers and POS Systems
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Participate in special assignments and projects as required

Job Requirements

  • Education: High School or equivalent
  • Must be able to stand for 6-8 hour shifts
  • Have the ability lift at least 45 pounds (case of wine), stocking as necessary
  • Must be enthusiastic with great energy. We’re looking for social butterflies who can strike up a conversation with anyone.
  • Must have a warm, approachable demeanor with a great sense of humor
  • Evening and weekend shifts required; holiday shifts possible
  • Hospitality, restaurant, or hotel experience a plus
  • 21 and older preferred
  • Wine knowledge preferred, but not required


Internships

MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Sessions:
CLOSED Summer 2018: middle of May-beginning of August
OPEN Fall 2018: end of August-middle of December
OPEN Spring 2019: beginning of January-beginning of May
OPEN Summer 2018: middle of May-beginning of August

Description:
Interns are expected to contribute between 20 and 40 hours per week during the internship. Applicants must have at least two years of college education to apply.

The Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to assist in marketing, public relations, social media, and other promotional efforts for The Winery at Bull Run. This internship will focus on the creation of marketing content on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), including text and graphics, as well as assisting in developing marketing calendars. Other promotional efforts may include drafting press releases, blog posts, and meeting agendas, communicating with vendors, researching marketing opportunities, and interfacing with the public.

We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, creative, energetic, a team player, and interested in a hands-on experience. A unique, clever voice for crafting marketing language and/or experience with graphic design and photography are pluses. Candidates should possess familiarity and/or interest in the winery, events, or hospitality industry; have excellent writing and proof reading skills as well as a professional demeanor; and be social media savvy, highly organized, and detail-oriented. 


EVENT PLANNING INTERNSHIP


Sessions:
Summer: end of May-beginning of August
Fall: middle of August-middle of December

Description:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic, creative, and personable individuals to work as part-time Events Interns. Interns will learn the ins-and-outs of event management working as day-of coordinators for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, birthday parties, and more.  Hours are mostly nights and weekends, but vary depending on event schedule. Internship can be used for college credit.
