Full-time, Base Salary + Commission

The Winery at Bull Run is seeking an experienced sales professional capable of successfully showcasing our venue to prospective brides, corporate clients, and potential event sales opportunities alike, interested in base salary plus commission and the ability to make up to $100,000.

General Responsibilities

The Event Sales Manager is responsible for the winery’s private event rental sales. They handle fielding, qualifying, and coordinating sales meetings with all incoming leads as well as generating new leads. The Event Sales Manager is responsible for the collective coordination of all event sales related information and resources, and is responsible for account management, sales prospecting, and business development.

Key activities performed by the Event Sales Manager include market research, sales prospecting, public relations, customer relationship management, revenue management, and communications. They will also prepare proposals and contracts for clients and maintain well-organized event records, passing the client on to the Event Management Department upon signing contracts. A successful Event Sales Manager will build and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners, and leverage these relationships to deliver continued sales opportunities. 

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should have excellent customer relationship management and communication skills. They are polished and articulate, and use these skills to manage client relationships. The Winery’s Event Sales Manager will meet with clients regularly, and conduct tours of the event facility providing accurate and timely information to clients, vendors, and planners. A continuous focus on improving customer satisfaction to create customer loyalty and deliver a positive event experience is expected.

The Event Sales Manager must be proficient in working independently to establish leads, own the sales cycle, and hit sales targets. Qualified candidates should also bring experience as a thought leader to collaborate in a team environment toward improving tactics and strategies.

Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. High-energy and creative individuals, who possess excellent customer service and sales skills, are especially effective in this position.

Other Qualifications Include:

  • 2+ years sales management and/or commission sales experience
  • Quantifiable experience hitting meeting and sales goals
  • Local travel in the DC Metro area may be required
  • Weekend availability required

OPEN Spring 2018: beginning of January-beginning of May

This is a paid internship. Interns are expected to contribute between 20 and 40 hours per week during the internship. Applicants must have at least two years of college education to apply.

The Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to assist in marketing, public relations, social media, and other promotional efforts for The Winery at Bull Run. This internship will focus on the creation of marketing content on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), including text and graphics, as well as assisting in developing marketing calendars. Other promotional efforts may include drafting press releases, blog posts, and meeting agendas, communicating with vendors, researching marketing opportunities, and interfacing with the public.

We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, creative, energetic, a team player, and interested in a hands-on experience. A unique, clever voice for crafting marketing language and/or experience with graphic design and photography are pluses. Candidates should possess familiarity and/or interest in the winery, events, or hospitality industry; have excellent writing and proof reading skills as well as a professional demeanor; and be social media savvy, highly organized, and detail-oriented. 



Summer: end of May-beginning of August
Fall: middle of August-middle of December

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, creative, and personable individuals to work as part-time Events Interns. Interns will learn the ins-and-outs of event management working as day-of coordinators for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, birthday parties, and more.  Hours are mostly nights and weekends, but vary depending on event schedule. Internship can be used for college credit.
